Shely Ben-Joseph is an Israeli Movie, TV, and Theater actress. Born on November 3rd, 1990 in Pforzheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, to Nir and Ilanit Ben-Joseph who were residing in Germany until the family's return to Israel in 1994. At the age of 18, Ben-Joseph joined an elite Army unit at the Artillery Corps where she served as an instructor as well as a commanding officer for two years until her honorable discharge in 2011. At the age of 19 she was selected by Igal Ozeri, a well-known New York based, photo-realism artist to be his leading model for over 20 art works including paintings and video arts for exhibitions that were displayed and sold all over the globe. At the age of 21 she studied at the Israeli Film & Theater Institute "Seminar HaKibbutzim", where she enrolled in a 3-year, full time program including intensive vocal training, advanced screen acting and participation in 'Ivana Chubbuk's' workshop in Israel. Her first major role came in the Israeli series Shababnikim where she played the leading role of Ruth Gotliev, a strong orthodox young woman, making her a household name in Israel. Shababnikim won the Israeli Academy Award for Best TV Comedy Series as well as the Seoul International Prize for Best Comedy Series of the Year, presented in South Korea. Ben-Joseph is also known for her supporting role as Naama, an Army intelligence officer in the Netflix series When Heroes Fly, also winning Cannes Festival Best Series Award for 2018. After gaining national recognition in Israel, she participated in an upcoming film Mr. Kohl's Final Hour to be featured worldwide by international director Doron Eran. Ben-Joseph is also going to be featured in Terraforma, an American-New Zealand production. During 2019 she is also expected to star in a prominent web-series named Drecula in a leading role. Ben-Joseph has had a wide and prominent career in the theater as well, starring in leading roles in both of Israel's largest theaters, Habima, (Israel's national theater) and The Cameri. She starred in plays such as William Shakespeare's Hamlet and others such as Maphisto, My First Love and On the Grill - for which she was nominated for the Best Promising Actress Award in the Theater Academy Awards for her role of Alona.
